American version

Since the invention of the game is generally attributed to the American Edwin Lowe, the American version is widely considered the original. However, it should be noted that there are also different variations here, the rules and procedures of which may differ from each other in many respects. In general, however, the grid in the American version of the game usually has 25 fields, in which the numbers 1 to 75 are used.

As a rule, however, the middle field on the grid is empty here, so that a total of only 24 numbers can be seen on the map. UK Online Bingo Version

The British version of the bingo game differs from the American version in various aspects. One of the most important differences is that the British version is played with 90 balls and thus with the numbers 1 to 90, instead of 1 to 75.

In addition, the playing card is also structured differently here. While the American map is usually square and shows a 5 × 5 grid, the British version uses a 9 × 3 grid, so that 27 fields can be seen here. In addition, the numbers here are not distributed completely arbitrarily, but structured by size. The first column contains the respective numbers between 1 to 9 or 10, the second 9 to 19 or 11 to 20.

This pattern continues until the last column, which shows the numbers from 80 or 81 to 90. Since each column contains only three fields and can therefore only display up to three numbers, each player usually receives 6 cards, so that all 90 numbers are distributed on the cards.

In order to determine the winning numbers, the British version does not necessarily always use a drum, because in some cases the numbers are also drawn from a bag. Thanks to today's technology, electronic random generators are also being used more and more frequently to determine the winning numbers. This is also a particularly frequently used option when playing online.

If you want to win at British Bingo, there is not only one way to do it. Instead, there are different winning combinations here:

30-Ball Games

In addition to the conventional variants of the game, there is also the slightly more unusual 30-ball version. This is usually played on a card with a 3×3 grid, which corresponds to a smaller version of the American card.

However, the difference here is not only in the number of squares, because in contrast to the American version, there is also no empty square in the middle of the map in this version. Apart from these differences, the 30-Ball version works the same as the other variants. Due to the small card and the smaller amount of numbers, this version is very popular, especially in Speed and Turbo bingo.

80-Ball Games

Games with 80 balls are, in a way, a mixture of the most common game variants. The playing card here has a 4 × 4 grid with no free space in the middle, on which a total of 16 numbers can be seen. The rules are not always the same in this version, for example, there may be differences in the accepted winning combinations. However, a mixture of different combinations is often used, as is also the case with the British version.
